Inimene vajab kahtek\u00fcmmet aminohapet, nendest kaheksat nimetatakse asendamatuteks aminohapeteks, sest organism ei suuda neid vajalikus koguses ise valmistada. Seega peab ta neid saama toiduga. BCAA-d (e hargnenud ahelaga aminohapped) on sportlaste jaoks k\u00f5ige paremini tuntud asendamatud aminohapped. Erinevad aminohapete kombinatsioonid moodustavad erinevaid valke, millel on k\u00f5igil oma funktsioonid. Valgud on n\u00e4iteks ens\u00fc\u00fcmide ja hormoonide koostiseks, kuid v\u00e4ga oluline on teada, et ka lihased moodustuvad valgust. Intensiivne treening lagundab lihaskudet ja seet\u00f5ttu on oluline varustada organismi piisava koguse proteiinidega, et kehal oleks v\u00f5imalik taastada ja kasvatada lihaseid. Sportijatel on k\u00f5rgenenud vajadus proteiinide j\u00e4rele ja toidulisandid saavad siin aidata kehale h\u00e4davajalike \u201cehitusmatejalide\u201d pakkumisega.<\/p>\n<p>Valgud on organismi p\u00f5hiline ehitusmaterjal, samuti k\u00e4ivitavad ja hoiavad toimimas kogu meie ainevahetuse, valgud on seega tegeliku elu aluseks. K\u00f5ige tuntum organismi transportvalk on hemoglobiin, mis t\u00e4nu oma v\u00f5imele siduda kopsudes hapnikku ja kudedes seda vabastada, varustab hapnikuga kogu organismi.
